Archimedes Technology Group
In 1998 the Archimedes Technology Group developed a 30,000 sq. ft. San Diego demonstration facility. At this facility a sophisticated state of the art system will prove a new technology for the safe and efficient disposal of nuclear waste. The machine utilizes plasma ion separation called the Archimedes plasma filter. The innovative approach is a multi-national collaboration of specialized RF/ magnetic plasma techonology. Archimedes holds over 41 patents on separation technology. When it came time to replace the monolithic Russian design, the Archimedes engineers called AMT to the challenge. AMT employed sophisticated specialized techniques to provide the numerous copper & nickel components required to perform in the deep vacuum & high temperature working environment. As seen in the bottom picture the working assembly is under extreme magnetic and temperature extremes.
AMT has fabricated complex components made from copper, titanium, beryllium copper, inconel and stainless steel. High-power plasma tourch parts fabricated from Copper and stainless steel assembled perfectly and went into full operation on schedule.
Archimedes expects to provide full scaled operation of their sophisticated system at the Hanford nuclear waste facility in 2008. AMT is proud to be a major supplier to our technology neighbor.
